Choir Members of Most Holy Redeemer Church Celebrate the Feast of their Patron St. Cecelia

The choir members of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, celebrated the feast of St. Cecilia on November 20,.2021. The celebration began with a solemn mass at 5 PM, offered by the Parish Priest Rev.Fr. Austin Peter Peres. The Members took part in the liturgy and the choir was led by Youth Choir. The feast of St. Cecilia is celebrated on the 22nd of November, but, for the convenience of the members it was celebrated on the 20th.
During the Homily, the main celebrant briefed about the life of St. Cecilia and the meaning of choir. She used to sing hymns and praise God in times of pain, joy and martyrdom. 
After mass, all the choir members joined in for a get-together at the church meeting hall. The programme commenced with a prayer song which was sung by the Children’s Choir. The President Mrs Sheela Dsouza addressed the gathering with a welcome speech. Rev.Fr. Austin Peris - Vicar, Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto -Socius Priest, Choir President and Vice President of PPP – Mrs Sheela Dsouza, Mr Gaulbert Pais – Secretary of PPP, Choir Secretary – Mrs Laveena Quadros, Choir Treasurer – Mrs Juliana Coelho and Choir Master Mr Anil Patrao were called to the dais. 
The Secretary presentee the report of the previous year and the Treasurer read out the yearly accounts. In his speech, Fr. Gerald appreciated the interest and active participation of the choir members in the liturgy. The Secretary of PPP congratulated the choir members and mentioned that the choir members also take interest in congregation singing.  Choir master Sri Anil Patrao expressed his gratitude towards all the choir members for their service. Choir master Alwyn D’Cunha appreciated the standard of singing. At the end Rev.Fr Austin Peres mentioned that the parishioners of Derebail are talented and are blessed with singers and musicians which help them celebrate the Eucharistic mass in a meaningful way and fascinate the parishioners in the mission of Jesus Christ through St. Cecilia. 
The Senior and Youth choir members sang the Goan Maando. Mr. Anil Patrao led the MaandoMrs. Ms.Juliet Moras recited a poem which was based on the occasion. After the variety programme, a housie-housie game was conducted by the MC. The Secretary of Choir gave the Vote of Thanks. Ms Ivy Melisha compered.
Evening snacks and delicious dinner was arranged for the Choir Members. There were about 60 members present for the programme.
