A Day out for the Senior Citizens Club Derebail: Caribbean Sea Resort, Mulki

The members of the Senior Citizens Club, Derebail, embarked on a day trip to Caribbean Sea Resort in Mulki, Mangalore, on 10.04.2024. The picnic team from Derebail assembled at the Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail as the starting point.The Parish Priest Rev.Fr. Joseph Martis prayed and blessed the members and wished them a wonderful day. Thirty-five members, including the priests, participated in the picnic.

 Upon reaching the resort, a prayer was conducted by the President, followed by the celebration of Mrs. Terry Pais's birthday. A tasty cake was arranged by her godchild, Diana Dsouza. The members introduced themselves after breakfast. A variety of games, conducted by Irene Mascarenhas, Felcy Fernandes, and Edward Coelho, kept the members active and happy. 

As the picnic spot was on the riverbank and there was continuous high tide,  there was continuous cool breeze  adding to the comfort and cheerfulness of the day. Panakas served in between kept the participants fresh and energetic. 

A variety of singing songs and debates on different topics provided an opportunity for everyone, including the priests, to participate, promoting laughter and dance. The sumptuous food was heavy, leading the seniors to take a rest for a while. The Fantastic singing of Albert Rego, the senior-most member, awakened the people in time to continue the fun atmosphere of the picnic. Super games and a photo session allowed the men and women to separate for some time. 

Finally, evening tea served as a tonic to boost up Akarathi Roney’s mimicry, which attracted birds and dogs around. Participants enjoyed the picnic and wished to arrange such outings often to feel young, energetic, cheerful, and happy. Finally, on the way back to Derebail, people greeted each other and thanked the Almighty by singing hymns and praises.
