Near or Far Paavsa Gammath is Always Close to my Heart: Some Good Memories Back

Near or Far Paavsa Gammath is Always Close to my Heart: Some Good Memories

Mangalore is known for its Unique traditions and cuisines. During rainy season, ಪಾತೊಳ್ಯೊ, ಖುಬೆ ಮುಟ್ಲಿ , ಪತ್ರಾಡೆ and many other food items are dearest to us. We all make them and it is our tradition to eat them together as a family. This strengthens our family bond and brings happiness and prosperity.

ಪಾವ್ಸಾ ಗಮ್ಮತ್ is a traditional festival during the monsoon season where people come together not only to prepare traditional foods, but also celebrate the festival of showers. I believe this is the third such seasonal festivity organized by our Derebail Parish.

I was delighted to hear that our dynamic team of YSD-ICYM Derebail is organising it on the 28th of August, 2022. Even though I  will miss it, I have fond memories of the last two times when the parish came together as a family and made ಪಾವ್ಸಾ ಗಮ್ಮತ್ a grand success. It was such a success that even some outsiders were keen to visit our church hall and experience the same.

There is a saying that some memories never fade away. These are the memories to cherish forever in our hearts. I can recall the traditional baila songs and dance, food and unity. Not only that, the way most of us enjoyed wearing traditional dress and clicking photos were the finest ones I remember. I could also recall the ward members eagerly coming together to prepare the dishes.

I congratulate the YSD-ICYM Derebail for your efforts in bringing this event again. To all the parishioners out there, enjoy it to the fullest and make merry. These are rare and unique moments when such programmes are hosted for the parishioners.

Before concluding, i would like to say that parishioners coming together as one is a family in itself a celebration. I really miss celebrating this festivity with my Derebail Parish family.ಗಮ್ಮತ್ ಜಾಂವ್ ಪಾವ್ಸಾ ಗಮ್ಮತ್.
