My First Choir Picnic by Chelsia Pearl Castelino Back

My First Choir Picnic

On 2nd of October, Sunday after the mass our dearest Lynsha Bai told us that on 4th of October we will be going for a picnic. All of us from the Children's Choir were very excited about the picnic. Infact, I eagerly waited for the Picnic day, as it was my first choir picnic.

I waited eagerly for the 4th of October. That day I woke up early and got ready for the picnic. I had my breakfast in a hurry and left for the Church which was our pick-up point. My excitement knew no bounds when I joined my friends in the church.

Our parish priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis and the Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto came to see us off. After a short prayer, we children ran to take blessings from both the priests. Fr. Joseph and Fr.Gerald blessed us and asked us to enjoy our trip.

We all got into the bus with lot of excitement. I quickly got into the bus and grabbed a seat with my friends Lenria and Reeva.  We all waved at our parents and took all the advices to be careful during the picnic.

While on our way to the picnic spot, Lynsha Bai captured the pictures and clicked selfies, Pramila aunty started with Antakshari. Pramila aunty always conducts the best games to keep us entertained. Antakshari was fun because we learnt many old songs that we had never heard before.

With finally reached our picnic spot- a riverside bungalow at Mukka. We were served with delicious breakfast and then began the fun. Pramila aunty kept us engaged in different games. We enjoyed all the fun games. Edward Coelho uncle also taught us some games. Dancing with the friends was best part of our picnic. After  the sumptuous lunch we continued with some more games followed by housie-housie.

Sheela aunty, the Choir President gave us a chance to exhibit our talents. Reon, Reshal, Tia and I sang songs and all four of us got chocolates from Sheela Aunty. Aunty Mable and aunty Molly too sang and kept us entertained. Reon was felicitated for his journey in Jigi Bigi Tara Reality Show. While we all cheered for Reon, we were also motivated to take part in competitions. The day was coming to an end. After having tea and snacks, we all got into the bus. For our surprise we were taken to Panambur beach. It was really a fun filled picnic. While all of us were busy having fun Edward uncle, Rakesh uncle, Pramila aunty and Lynsha bai specially took charge of our safety at the beach.

We were all treated with delicious icecream and we children were gifted a windmill toy. With all the fun and the cherishing memories we reached back safely.

I am indeed grateful to all those who put in their efforts to plan such a wonderful picnic. The picnic helped us get to know each other closely. I realized that the Choir is an important part of the Church and I am fortunate to be a member of this team. The members of the Senior Choir showered us with a lot of affection and took good care of us throughout the day.
