Thanksgiving Mass And Silver Jubilee Celebrations - Derebail Parish Sports Club Back

A journey that was set by a small group of youngsters has now come to a stage where it has completed glorious twenty five years. A journey that comprised of so many ups’ and downs’ has reached a milestone of Silver jubilee and is still continuing further by placing its firm footsteps. Right from the inception, a huge number of sportsmen and sportswomen have stepped in, to be a member of this club and have worked for the betterment of the club as well as the society.

The big day had finally arrived. All the club members were in a joyful mood as an atmosphere of a feast had been created everywhere. The wait to celebrate the mighty occasion of the Silver Jubilee was finally over. For the God’s mighty showers of blessings throughout the twenty five years, a thanks giving mass was celebrated by the former Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Godfrey L.A.Saldanha on January 25,2015. He was assisted by another former parish priest Rev.Fr. Herald Menezes and the present Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Peter D’souza. The sports club members actively took part in the liturgy. Yuva Spandan Derebail (YSD) took over the choir and raised the divinity of the mass.

After the mass a short program was arranged at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall, Derebail for the club members. Rev.Fr. Herald Menezes presided the function. Rev.Fr.Godfrey L.A. Saldanha, Rev.Fr.Peter D’souza, Rev.Fr.Vinod lobo, Mr.Anil Patrao were the guests of honour. They were accompanied by  President of the Derebail Parish Sports Club Mr.Sandhesh Mascarenhas. Rev.Fr.Herald Menezes addressed the gathering by his words of wisdom. Rev.Fr.Godfrey L.A.Saldanha appreciated the good work and wished all the very best for the future. Later the guests as well as the senior members of the club were honored for their valuable contributions towards the club. The program was followed by lunch and the members enjoyed the taste of it together like ‘one family’.

The stakes were set high and a huge stage had been set up for the valedictory function of the Jubilee celebrations. A huge crowd had gathered at the church school ground to witness this beautiful program. The program was presided by Rev.Dr.Peter D’souza. Mr.Valentine D’souza, (Inspector Of Police, CCB Mangalore), Mr.Vincent Prakash Carlo (Commonwealth Gold medalist in powerlifting), Rev.Fr.Vinod Lobo, Mr.Anil Patrao were the guests of honour for the day. Prizes were given away to the winners of various games and competitions.

Derebail Parish Sports Club proved to the world their concern and love towards the poor and needy parishnors by donating a huge amount of Rupees Fifty Thousand towards the Derebail Church Relief Fund.

The formal program was followed by a few cultural performances. The host for the program Ms.Prithi D’silva played a huge role in keeping the audience lively till the end of the program. A few spot games added on to the fun. Then a hilarious tulu play named ‘Aapuji Panda Deepuji’ was played by a talented group ‘Namma Kalaavidher,Bedra’ which won the hearts of all the parishnors. The housie-housie for the gold coin was the special attraction of the night.
