Teacher's Day Back

Yuva Spandan, Derebail organized ‘Teacher’s Day’ celebrations on the 15^th of September, 2013 and honored the Teachers.

The programme started with the Eucharistic Celebration led by Rev. Fr. Ajith Menezes, Director of St. Joseph’s Engineering College who gave a meaningful homily. The liturgy was conducted by the Teachers.

This was followed by a cultural programme in the Parish main hall. The Chief Guest was Rev, Fr. Wilson D’souza, Secretary of the Catholic Education Board. Mr. Prajwal Sequeira, the President of Yuva Spandan delivered the welcome note. Rev. Fr. Wilson D’souza, The Parish Priest Rev Fr. Peter D’souza, the Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Edwin Monis, The President of the Parish Pastoral Committee Mr. Ulhas D’costa, Secretary Mr. Anil Patrao, Mrs. Lizzy Fernandes and Mrs. Carmelita Dsouza, Animators of Yuva Spandan were present on the dais. The programmed was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries present on the dais.

The Chief Guest Fr. Wilson D’souza who delivered the key note address congratulated the members of Yuva Spandan for organizing such an event and highlighted the efforts and responsibilities of Teachers. He explained in detail the responsibility of the Teachers towards understanding the students entrusted under their care, correcting them and bringing out the talents of the students in a meaningful way. How can Teachers’ be role models and the impact they have on their students was elaborated. He read out the Bishop’s message to the Teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day.

During the event, Mrs. Leticia Castelino who served for 37 years in both the schools of the Derebail Parish and retired recently talked about her experiences as a Teacher.

Mr. Melvin Fernandes conducted the games and Ms Edrina Sequeira and Ms Maizy Fernandes compeered the event.
