Silver Jubilee Celebration of our Parish Priest Back

Our Parish Priest Rev Fr Dr Peter D’souza celebrated his Silver Jubilee of his Ordination into Priesthood (3^rd May 2013) on 4^th May along with the parishioners.  The parishioners gathered together at 5 pm and welcomed the Bishop. This was followed by the Eucharistic celebration. 

The Principal of the seminary Rev Fr. Clifford Fernandes in his homily talked about Vocations - Yesterday Now and Tomorrow and urged the people to pray for vocations from our families.

The mass was followed by the Silver Jubilee celebrations. The Assistant Parish Priest Fr Edwin Monis welcomed the gathering.  The Past Vice President of the Parish Pastoral council Mr. Vincent Castelino welcomed the Bishop with a bouquet, The Vice President Mr. Ullas D’costa read out the Letter of Honor on behalf of the parishioners.

Fr, Peter then cut the cake and was honored by the Bishop with a shawl, fruits and flowers. In his congratulatory address the Bishop said that the parishioners consider the parish priest as a member of their own family hence when the parish priest is transferred the parishioners shed tears since he has loved his parishioners dearly.  Fr Peter D’souza served as an Assistant Parish Priest while I was the parish priest in Cascia church and we lived as brothers. He was a humble and simple priest and always obedient to God and his elders.  He was ever ready to serve the parishioners with love and affection.

Fr. Peter completed his SSLC with flying colors in Kasaragod and joined the seminary. He completed his higher studies and obtained a Doctorate degree.  He served as a principal and an administrator in the seminary and gained rich experience. 

Speaking on this occasion, Fr. Peter expressed his sentiments and said that 25 years truly passed swiftly.  He said he was indeed blessed to serve in the parish as an Assistant Parish Priest where the Bishop was his Parish Priest.  His guidance, cooperation and good example was tremendous.  While I thank the Lord for all his blessings, I am extremely thankful to all of you, who have prayed for me,

The priest s that were ordained along with Fr. Peter were also present on this occasion.  Rev Fr. Alban Rodrigues, Rev Fr. Paul Pinto, Rev, Fr.  James D’souza, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Rev. Fr.  Joseph Martis and Rev. Fr. Cyprian Pinto were congratulated on this occasion and handed over flower sprays.

The parish choir sang a congratulatory song.  The Secretary of the Parish Pastoral council gave the vote of thanks, post which the parishioners came forward to congratulate and wish the Parish Priest on this joyous occasion.
