First Holy Communion at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail

The First Holy Communion is a wonderful moment in a child’s life and represents a sign of growth in the knowledge and love of God.18 little children celebrated their First Holy Communion on May 05th 2019 at 09.15 AM mass. A large crowd of faithful attended the mass. The whole liturgy was conducted by the communicants.

Rev. Fr Gratian Alvares was the main celebrant, Rev Fr. Austin Peres, Rev Fr. Praveen Leo Lasrado and Rev. Fr .Walter D'Souza were the co-celebrants. In his Homily Fr Gratian emphasized that Jesus is the Bread of Life who comes into our hearts and transforms us. He urged the little children who receive communion to be like Jesus. They were asked to imbibe the virtues of Jesus.

The communicants sang a Thanksgiving hymn. Mrs. Dora Dcunha and Mrs. Pramila Furtado were honoured for training and preparing the children for their special day through catechism classes.

The children were presented with a scapular and a certificate as a remembrance of their First Holy Communion Day and thereafter a photo session was arranged.
