Family from Derebail to Serve as Missionaries in West Bengal and Malawi

The Bible speaks of missions as a service to God. Declaring the gospel to the nations is always the natural fruit of Christian worship. Creation itself yearns to hear the gospel spoken. 

_“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”_
Proverbs 19:21

Very often, we hear about missionaries working in remote areas of the world, but hardly have we ever come across anyone in the recent times. Here today is a rare occasion and we parishioners of Derebail Church are proud to honour the family of Gerald & Jane Castelino who have dedicated their two sons and their families for missionary work. 

This family has been actively serving the community, church and the diocese as part of Missionary Families of Christ. MFC was formerly known as "Couples for Christ". 

Jeswin & Lavisha along with their 3 kids - Joanna, Jordan & Leanna will be serving as missionaries in the Diocese of Mangochi, in the country of Malawi (African Continent). 

Kelvin & Amulya along with their two kids - Oliver & Myles will be serving as missionaries in the Diocese of Jalpaiguri & Raigunj in West Bengal, India. Kelvin & Amulya have been serving as Full Time Pastoral Workers for MFC India for the last 7 years. 

Gerald & Jane Castelino from Kottara Ward have served as Area Servants and been in the community for the last 18 years. 

All of them have held important positions in various Multi National Companies prior to heeding to this call. They have had successful careers, ambitions, desires and everything a normal family would have had, before giving it all to work in God's kingdom. This should inspire us to pray for missionaries in our own families as we pray for priestly vocations too.
