Confraternity Sunday Back
The feast of confraternity (Comprichen Festh) was celebrated with traditional joy and gaiety on 26th October at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail. As anticipation for the Parish feast that is on 9th November, the entire parish got together in huge numbers on this blessed day. The Eucharistic Celebration began at 4 with Rev Fr. Clifford Fernandes, as the Main Celebrant. He rendered in his Homily the importance of having a healthy parish community. He emphasized the need for each one to consider the Church as one big family. He said, “Let’s come, share and dine together.”
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by the procession where the entire parish community, the young and the old took part in it. The musical band, the choir of the parish, the prayerful singing of the parishioners, and the colourful decoration all along the way with quotes from the scripture added magnificence to the entire celebration. Fr. Peter D’souza, the Parish priest and Fr. Vinod Lobo, the Assistant Parish priest along with the leaders of the wards took extra initiative in encouraging the parishioners all along the week in their preparations for this day.
After the procession the parishioners assembled at the church ground to participate in the Benediction that was again led by Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes. The Annual Parish feast date was then announced to be on the 9th of November. The entire proceeding of the Confraternity Sunday displayed nothing but the immense faith that the parishioners still have in the Church and in the Lord.
