ALL SOULS DAY 2024 Back
ALL SOULS DAY 2024
The solemn masses for All Saints Day on 1st November were held at 6.15 am and 5.30 pm at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail. On the same day, after the 5.30 pm mass a short prayer was held at the Church Cemetery on the account of All Souls Day. Following the prayer, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis and the Associate Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Kevin Dsouza sprinkled Holy Water on all the graves in the cemetery. Parishioners stood beside the tombstones of their dearly departed family members and took part in the prayer. Despite the dark, the Church Cemetery illuminated with the candles and flowers that were placed on the graves of the parishioners. As All Souls Day is observed on 2nd November, masses were also held at 6.15 and 7.15 am. While All Souls Day acts as a yearly ritual to commemorate their loved ones, it also enables Catholics to reaffirm their faith in Christ.
