Journey to the Cross Back
Journey to the Cross
Lent is often portrayed as a journey during which Scripture, Psalms, prayers and penance become a crucial part of one's life. These become components that drives the season which brings the weary traveler to the joys of Easter.
The Holy Cross that was given to the Ward in the year 2014 - this year made its journey to 34 houses in the Kottara Ward, every evening. The journey that began on 22nd March on Ash Wednesday concluded on 5th April during the Holy Week, visiting each house, transforming the old and young and brought peace and blessings on its way.
The journey that began on the evening of Ash Wednesday provided an opportunity to come together and pray the Angelus, recite the Rosary and Go through the Way of the Cross as one big family. The Journey to the Cross covered 41 days and visited 34 homes on its way.
Every evening at 7 pm , the ward members assembled in the house where the cross was placed and prayed the prayer of the Year of the Family . Then the head of the family carried the cross to the next house where the Angelus, Rosary and Way of the cross was recited and ended around 8 pm.
It was a blessing to see a majority of the ward people participating in this journey almost everyday, with an average of 30 people each evening with an equal number of men and women.
On the last day, people shared their experiences of healing, blessings and miracles that they witnessed during this journey and decided to continue this tradition of the Cross every year.
For the members of Kottara Ward, the Journey to the Cross was a spiritual experience filled with grace and Blessings all through.
