Celebrating the Joy of the Season: Mullerkad and Kavoor Wards Host Christmas Get-together

The members of Mullerkad and Kavoor Wards jointly celebrated and ushered in the season of Christmas on 10 December, 2022 at the residence of Mrs.Felcy D'Souza and Mr.Roque. The programme began with a short prayer song by the ward members and blessings by Rev.Fr.Gerald Pinto.

Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis graced the occasion along with Rev.Fr.Gerald Pinto and Mrs.Sheela D'Souza. On this occasion many of the ward members were honoured for their service and achievements in various fields. Mr.Ronald P. D'Souza was felicitated for his service as the ward's Gurkar for 25 years. His service as the Parish Vice-President for two terms and his role in the construction of the new building of the church in 1972 and the vaults for the first time in Mangalore Diocese in 1980 was duly acknowledged and recognised. Mrs.Treeza D'Souza was honoured for her service as the Ward Representative for three terms. Mr.Mark Sera was felicitated for his service as the ward gurkar for over a decade. He was also felicitated for receiving the Chief Minister's Gold medal  for his service in the Home Guard department. Mr.Clevius D'Souza was honoured for his service in the Karnataka Fire and Safety Department. He too was awarded with the Chief Minister's Gold medal in 2015.

Many of the youth from the ward were also felicitated for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Avinash Dsouza, Tina Menezes, Renisha Colaco, Darren Dsouza, Shawn Colaco, Russel Rodrigues and Shynel Pinto were felicitated.

The Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis addressed the gathering and placed on record his appreciation for the wonderful programme that the ward members had put up. On a serious note, he also spoke about how we must help each other, especially the elder members of our community.

The stage programme indeed enthralled the audience. Carols were sung by Minal Lobo and Hancy Sera. Christmas dance was performed by Shynel Pinto. Many games were also conducted.

Mr. Denzil Erod Pinto welcomed the gathering, Mrs Wilma Monteiro proposed the Vote of Thanks and Mrs. Ruby compeered.

Indeed the  joint efforts  put in by the Gurkars Mr.Denzil Pinto and Mrs.Cynthia Martis along with their ward members led to the grand success of the event.
