Akashbhawan Ward Day Celebration 

On Saturday, the 23rd of April,2022, the members of Akashbhavan Ward joined together to celebrate their Ward Day. To begin with, the ward members along with other parishioners offered a Thanksgiving mass at 5PM at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail. The Ward Members took part in the liturgy and brought offerings. 

After the Eucharistic Celebration, the ward members gathered at the residence of Mrs.Theresa Pinto. The celebration resumed at 6.45 PM with a welcome dance performed by the tiny tots of the ward. 

The Parish Priest Fr. Austin Peter Peres, Socious Priest Fr.Gerald Pinto, Vice President of PPC Mrs.Sheela D'souza , Secretary of PPC Mr. Gaulbert, Co-ordinator of 21 Commissions of the Parish Mr. Edward Coelho graced the occasion as dignitaries on the dias. 

A Formal Programme ensued. A prayer song was sung by the ward members. The dignitaries of the day symbolically inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. The dignitaries were then given a floral welcome by the members of the ward. 

The Ward Secretary, Mr.Denzil Dcosta presented the Annual SCC report and handed over the same for approval to the parish priest. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs.Sheela D'souza appreciated the efforts put in by the ward members to put forward such a beautiful event. With her words of encouragement, she motivated the ward members to continue working unitedly. 

Fr. Gerald Pinto in his address congratulated the ward members and stated that the ward members have always shown keen interest in serving the community. He asked the ward members to continue to serve with the same spirit and zeal.

Mr.Edward Coelho described the important role that this ward plays in the Mission of Christ. He stated that the exemplary role played by the ward members is indeed a challenge for the society. 

Fr. Austin Peter Peres in his address, pointed out that the members living in this ward share a unique bond with each other. The Ward Members relate to each other and get along well. 
Fr. Austin praised the ward by stating that the togetherness and unity present in this ward is indeed a symbol of the presence of the Holy Church. 

Prize distribution was then done to reward the winners of the various games conducted that day. 

The Parish Priest then honoured the elderly members of the ward. Mrs. Leena D'Souza and Mr. Arwin Pereira were presented with a memento for their major support in putting up this Ward Day Celebration together.  Mr. Babu George, a former resident of the ward was also felicitated on the occasion. His selfless service towards the ward was recollected and rewarded on the ward day celebration.

The Gurkar Mrs. Philomena D'Souza and the Vice President Mrs. Sheela D'Souza were also felicitated on the occasion. 

The Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Austin Peter Peres was then honoured and felicitated by the ward members. He was presented with a Letter of Honour that listed out his achievements and selfless service as a parish priest. As a token of their gratitude and appreciation the ward members also presented him with a memento. 

Mrs. Hazel D'costa delivered the vote of thanks. 

The Cultural Programme that was presented on this occasion was spectacular. Ms. Anvitha Thoras' dance won the hearts of all the audience. The ward members then sang a song. Later, a group dance was performed by Riyona D'costa, Vinitha D'Souza, Jeevan D'Souza and Anvitha Thoras. Jovita Rodrigues sang a song with her melodious voice. 

Fr. Gerald Pinto said the grace before meals. The ward members enjoyed their dinner with each others' company. 

Ms. Ancia Menezes compered. 

The Ward Day , indeed ended on a note of jubiliation, where the members of the ward celebrated their togetherness, their talents and their love for Christ.
