Mission Sunday at Most Holy Redeemer Church Back

Mission Sunday at Most Holy Redeemer Church

For World Mission Sunday 2024, themed “Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet,” the parishioners of the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Derebail came together with hearts full of faith and a shared mission to create an extraordinary celebration. The event, held on the 19th and 20th of October, echoed Pope Francis' call to invite all to the spiritual feast.

The celebrations began on Saturday, October 19th, with a Eucharistic mass at 5:00 PM, setting the tone for the weekend’s events. After the mass, an auction was held, bringing the community together in support of charitable causes. The church grounds were filled with various food and beverage stalls, organized by enthusiastic youth, ward members and associations, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for all who attended.

On Sunday, October 20th, the celebration continued with three Eucharistic masses at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, and 11:30 AM. Each mass reflected the theme of inviting others into the fold of faith and the community responded with great participation. Following the morning masses, another round of auctions allowed parishioners to support the mission further. Throughout the day, food and beverage counters remained open, offering opportunities for fellowship and the strengthening of community bonds.

A special moment when Mrs. Meena (Konchady || ward), with the ticket number A070, won the special kit kat cake in a lucky draw, organized by YCS.

The success of this year’s Mission Sunday was made possible by the unwavering support of Rev. Father Joseph Martis, the Parish Priest and Rev. Father Kevin D’Souza, the Assistant Parish Priest. Their leadership, along with the hard work of the Parish Pastoral Council members, youth volunteers and various association members, ensured the smooth execution of all the events.

Through the theme “Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet,” the parishioners of the Most Holy Redeemer Church demonstrated their dedication to welcoming all into the community of faith. The 2024 Mission Sunday will be remembered as a time of unity, charity and shared purpose, a true testament to the power of coming together in faith.
