Holy Thursday: Commemoration of the Last Supper and Service at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail

Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his apostles. It is a solemn occasion where we reflect on the significance of the Eucharist and Jesus' selfless sacrifice.

The Maundy Thursday celebration at the Most Holy Redeemer Church was presided over by Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, alongside co-celebrant Rev. Kevin D'Souza.

Fr. Kevin D'Souza, in his homily, eloquently emphasized the importance of the Eucharistic Celebration, Priesthood Day, and the significance of familial love. He reminded us of Jesus' sacrifice, the power of prayer, and the necessity of surrendering ourselves to God, finding happiness within our families.

Following the tradition of Jesus washing his disciples' feet, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis humbly washed the feet of twelve chosen parishioners, symbolizing humility and service.

The Mass concluded with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the "altar of repose", where parishioners reflected and prayed during the Holy Hour. Fr. Joseph Martis led a solemn prayer session, guiding parishioners in heartfelt adoration and leading in prayer to prepare to welcome the Lord.

The youth choir enhanced the Mass with their melodious voices, adding depth to the spiritual atmosphere.
