Good Friday - 2018

Good Friday is a day when Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, It is a solemn day , mourning the death of Jesus Christ at the Calvary.

The Good Friday service at The Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail, began with a prayer service at 8am, followed by way of the cross at the Church grounds.Large number of Parishioners  took part in this service with great devotion.

The service in the evening commenced at 5:30pm, with the entry of the priestsbowing down at the altar in reverence. Fr.Austin Peres, Fr.GratianAlvares and Fr.AntonyPais S.J cantillated the Passion of Christ. In his homily, Fr.GratianAlvares said, Jesus died on the cross to redeem us from our sins and to give us salvation. He continued saying,all of us carry different crosses in our lives, it is only when we carry them willingly everyday, we’ll be able to give a new meaning to our troubles in life. He further stated,during distress we need to lift up our thoughts and sight at the Crucifix .We should willingly accept God’s wish and go ahead in life, also said that during our tough times we ought  to develop the perspective of Jesus and Mother Mary. He added, there are no shortcuts in life, troubles are a part of our lives, they make us humble and meek. Difficulties  help us accept the Divinity of God and to live in true faith. Homily was followed by Prayers of the faithful, offered for various needs of The Holy Catholic Church and other general purposes.Veneration of the Holy Cross and distribution of The Holy Eucharist was followed. TheParishioners participated in the service with great devotion inlarge number.
