Swachh Derebail – Together for a Cleaner, Greener Tomorrow Back

The Commission for Environment, Derebail Parish organized “Swachh Derebail” on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, with the vision of creating clean streets, a healthy community, and a better tomorrow.

At 6.45 a.m., nature-loving parishioners gathered at the church premises of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, to take part in this meaningful cleanliness drive. Addressing the volunteers, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis encouraged everyone to work together for a cleaner and greener Derebail.

The volunteers cleaned the route from Kuntikan to Medplus (Konchady), with special focus on removing plastic waste from the surroundings. Despite the rain, the participants carried out the work enthusiastically and returned with bags full of collected waste.

The active participation of senior citizens, youth, and parish members added great value to the initiative. The involvement of the Parish Priest and Assistant Parish Priest reflected their love and concern for nature and the environment.

The program beautifully conveyed the message:
“Be a part of the change. Be proud. Keep Derebail clean and green.”

“Swachh Derebail” was not just a cleaning activity, but a collective effort to inspire responsibility towards nature and society. The event concluded with breakfast for all participants, leaving everyone motivated to continue working towards a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Derebail.
