Education Commission, Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail, Hosts Teachers Day Celebration

The members of Education Commission of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail, celebrated Teachers’ Day on 30 August, 2025, at the Golden Jubilee Hall. The event was organized to honour and appreciate the teachers of the parish.

The celebration was graced by Mrs Meena Monteiro, Professor, Roshni Nilaya Mangalore who also served as the Resource Person. In her session, she dwelt on how teachers face immense physical and emotion pressure in line of their duty and shared effective techniques to overcome these challenges. She also responded to the questions posed by the attendees.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Parish Priest, shared his thoughts and experiences, showing special appreciation towards all those who have engaged themselves in this noble profession. He also presented all the teachers present with roses as a token of gratitude.

On this occasion, parishioners who were awarded Doctorates in the 2025- Dr. Vilma D’souza and Dr. Joan Rita O’Brien- were felicitated for their accomplishments.

The programme was attended by Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris, Assistant Parish Priest, and Bro. Augustine, along with parish dignitaries: Mrs. Sheela D’Souza (Vice President, PPC), Mr. Denzil Pinto (Secretary, PPC), and Mr. Anil Patrao (Convenor of 21 Commissions).

The formal programme began with a warm welcome by Mrs. Felcy Lobo, followed by the introduction of the Resource Person by Sr. Maria Aranha. Mrs. Merlyn Mascarenhas introduced the doctorate awardees and also recited a self-composed poem dedicated to teachers. Miss Renisha Lobo ably compered the event as Emcee.

The members of ICYM enhanced the evening with their graceful dance and prayer song.
Mrs. Cynthia Martis rendered the Vote of Thanks.

The event witnessed the participation of around 100 teachers from the parish. The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal, marking a joyful end to a memorable evening.
