Sacrament Of Confirmation Back

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "Sacraments of Christian initiation", whose unity must be safeguarded. As the saying goes, “the reception of the sacrament of confirmation is necessary for the completion of Baptismal grace”, a group of 45 boys and girls received their confirmation on the 21st of April,2015 at Most Holy Redeemer Church. Our Beloved Bishop Rt. Reverend Aloysius Paul D’souza arrived at 5 PM at the Derebail Parish and was welcomed by our Parish Priest Rev Fr. Peter D’souza, Assistant Parish Rev Fr Vinod Lobo, Mr. Anil Patrao Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council,Mr Edward Coelho the Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, the Youngsters to be confirmed and all the parishioners at the entrance of the church. The Parish Priest florally welcomed the Bishop .

Before the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Bishop addressed the Youth who were all elegantly dressed and well prepared for the reception of the Holy Spirit in their hearts forever. The Bishop asked the youngsters a few questions pertaining to Catholic faith. The youngsters who had been preparing for this sacrament for almost a month gave prompt answers and won for themselves words of appreciation by the Bishop.

The Eucharistic celebration then began with a processional entrance by the youngsters followed by the altar boys, the priests and the Bishop. In his homily, the Bishop used an anecdote to illustrate the everlasting presence of Jesus in our lives. The Bishop then confirmed the 45 youngsters individually.

April 21st also happens to be the day on which Fr Vinod had been ordained. On behalf of the Bishop and Parishoners Fr Peter D’souza congratulated him and wished him all success in his mission of serving the Church and Jesus.

Special prizes were distributed to those who had topped in the exam that was conducted for the youth to be confirmed.

The Parish Priest then felicitated the Bishop for the completion of 19 years as the Bishop of Mangalore diocese. The Bishop then lauded the Parish Priest and the Derebail Parish.
