MISSION SUNDAY: A day where we participate in the Lord's mission

Pope Saint John Paul II described Mission Sunday as "an important day in the life of the Church because it teaches how to give: as an offering made to God, in the Eucharistic celebration and for all in the missions of the world."

The Catholics all over the world believe that God is doing great things through His church around the world and that it is on Mission Sunday that we Catholics have been able to support and spread the Word of the Lord all over. Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail observed its Mission Sunday successfully on the 15th and 16th of October .

As a preliminary step towards accomplishment of the Mission Sunday a lot of youngsters from the Parish volunteered to sell tickets for Mission Sunday . On the Saturday preceding Mission Sunday and on Sunday auctions were held in the church premises. A variety of items ranging from vegetables to electronics contributed by the parishioners were auctioned with the proceeds going for the cause of Mission Sunday. The auction was conducted by Mr Vincent Rebello with the assistance of the YSD members. Food stalls were set up by YCS members which served favourites like cup cakes, chicken fry and sarpatel. Besides these Biryani and other delicacies were prepared and served by the CLC members and other volunteers. The members of Legion of Mary organised games which saw the whole hearted participation of the parishioners. They had also put up a Mission Tree which was laden with an assortment of items which were sold to raise funds for the noble cause for which the Mission Sunday is observed.
