Inter Religious Dialogue Back

The Inter Religious Dialogue Meet was organized on the 15th of December as part of the Parish Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

Tea and snacks were served for all the invitees gathered at 4 PM. The event started at 4.30 PM with the welcome dance by students of Derebail Church School. As soon as the guests of honor were accompanied to the dais, the members of Y. C. D rendered the prayer song.  The President, Rev. Fr. Peter D’souza welcomed the gathering and offered flower bouquets. In his address, he said that while following ones religion, it was important to respect other religions. The Guests of Honor seated on the dais, lit the lamp and inaugurated the event.

Swami Jithakamananda from the Hindu religion and President of the Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangalore conveyed his best wishes for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and mentioned that it was important and special to organize the Inter Religious Dialogue Meet on such an occasion. Our creator is one and although we hail from different castes and religions, we are brothers and sisters in a spiritual way. Swami Vivekananda and Shri Paramahamsa have conveyed the essence of religion to the whole world. Although we follow different religions, just like whoever draws water from a well gets pure water, so also religion is an instrument and way that leads to God. He called to live our faith and to know our fellow human beings.

The next address was given by Maulana Abdul Aziz Darimi, M. J. M, Chokkabettu on behalf of the Muslim Community. He spoke on what religion is and the essence of all religions in his own unique manner. Every religion preaches only goodness, no religion preaches evil. Whatever heights a human being scales or whatever depths he falls into, we all have a difference of only 6 feet. Hence it is important for all of us to restrain our mind and allow others also the right to live.

Rev. Fr. Pradeep Sequeira, J. S in his address mentioned that irrespective of what religion we follow, it is important for us to have the support from other religions. While we learn more and more about ones religion, it is important to respect other religions and adopt the good practices from other religions and share our best practices with them.  It is not right to force ones religion on others.

The Panambur Police Station Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shri Ravikumar S in his address mentioned that in all religious studies, one comes across mercy. Organizing such an event is a lesson to those who think of creating atrocities in the name of religion.  We should learn to give respect and take respect. It is most important to be a good human being first. Let events such as these do not remain only as stage events but contribute to leave a good impact on the society at large

The Guests present on the occasion included Corporator Mr. Rajesh K, Mr. Shashidhar Hegde, Mr. Lancelot Pinto. Shri Mahabala Marla, Shri Deepak Poojary, Shri Rajaneesh and Shrimathi Nagaveni who were presented with flower bouquets.
