Get Together for Parishioners in the Medical Field Back

A Get Together and Felicitation programme was organized for the Parishioners who are serving in the medical field on the 9th of February at 4 PM. The programme began with a hymn and a reading from the Holy Bible. The President of the Catholic Sabha, Mr. Denis Lasrado welcomed the gathering. The Parish Priest, the Assistant Parish Priest, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council and the key resource person of the event, Dr. Ramila Shekhar were accorded a warm welcome on this occasion. Mr. Edward Coelho from the Catholic Sabha introduced the guest.

Dr. Ramila Shekhar is a well known personality in the field of family / children’s problems and has rendered 25 years of service. She currently heads the P. G. Department in Roshni Nilaya institution. She has organized more than 500 programmes for mentally ill children and women. In her address, she said that all of say that we have no time but we manage to do all things. However, do we ever spend some time at least to think about ourselves? She talked about three important things that we need to keep in mind:

  • Using ones time very effectively: it is important to do effective time management and prioritize and get those things done first that are important. Setting aside time for the children and family is of utmost importance. One should not be guilty about setting time aside for oneself. Whenever we give time for prayer, for play and for our loved ones, we tend to be happy and energetic.
  • The time that is set aside for the family: it is of utmost importance to build strong families which includes children, youth, parents and the grandparents.
  • The thought that one needs to be contended: We should give respect to each and every person. It is important to build a bond of trust. When mistakes take place, it is important to acknowledge and say sorry. We should be strong in our thoughts and always think highly.

69 parishioners who are serving in the health / medical field were given a memento and were honored. On behalf of this group, Mrs. Mary Vaz who has served in the nursing field and has rich experience of over 40 years shared her experiences in a meaningful way with the audience. The Secretary of the Catholic Sabha, Mr. Oswald D’souza proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. Victor Correa compeered the programme.
