Elders Day 2017 Back

TO CARE FOR THOSE WHO CARED ONCE FOR US IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST HONOURS.

Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail celebrated the Elders' day on the 5th of February, 2017. The event was organised by the SFO in order to tribute to the elders in the parish for their gracious presence in the parish.

As the saying goes experience and wisdom come with age, the elders of the parish proved the same. Mr.Walter Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering. Mr.Edward Coelho, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council addressed the gathering on this occassion.

Rev. Fr. Austin Peris spoke on how to age gracefully. The elders were thrilled with the 12 steps that he offered that one has to take into consideration in order to age gracefully. It so happens that the elderly members in course of time get limited exposure to the outside world. Old Age naturally becomes a burden. But when programmes like these are organized it helps the elderly to think differently and have a changed attitude towards the approaching old age.

Following this were the games and entertainment organised by Dr.Carmelita Goveas. The elders had 45 minutes of fun and laughter. The Vote of Thanks was rendered by Shobha Mendonca. Lunch was served at the end of the programme.
