Annual Parish Feast Back

The Most Holy Redeemer Parish was all set for its Annual Parish feast on the 9th of November. The festive mood was evident on the 8th itself as the Church premise looked bright and colourful with the lightings that adorned the Church.  A lot of planning and preparation by the young and not so old volunteers of the Church helped the parishioners celebrate this feast with great zeal and grandeur. However the celebration commenced at 9 am on the 9th of November. The Parish Priest Fr. Peter D’souza distributed candles and honoured all those who had contributed towards the expenses of this celebration ( Murdom). The holy mass was then celebrated and Fr. Edwin Monis ( the Ex-Assistant Parish Priest of Most Holy Redeemer Church) who is now serving Vittla Parish was the Main Celebrant. Besides there were 10 Co-Celebrant guests priests who presided over this Holy mass.

In his Homily, Fr. Edwin Monis said that Lateran Basilica is the Pope’s Cathedral. Today’s feast is a reminder to clean out the dust and dirt from the Cathedral of our hearts. As temples of God, we need to work with Jesus to drive out everything that is unholy. If our hearts are open to the Holy Spirit, we will soon find the blessing in this work and we will become a blessing to others. When our lives are filled with Holy Spirit, God’s goodness will flow out from us and we will be able to provide others with nourishment and healing.

Gifts in the form of fruits, vegetables, hosts and wine were offered during the offertory by many of the Parishioners as a symbol of their gratitude towards the Almighty for all the favours that he had bestowed on his devotees. The melodious choir by the youth under the leadership of Stefan Castelino added to the solemnity of the mass. The Parish Priest thanked all those who had helped Derebail parish in grow in their own little way. The mass concluded with the recessional hymn “Saibha Salvodora” that was sung to venerate and honour our Parish patron.

The YSD and YCS members had organized various games to entice the parishioners. A series of stalls with games like Maaza draw, Lucky draw,Build the tower etc kept the parishioners occupied till about 2 in the noon. To quench one’s thirst under the scorching sunlight was the Nisarga counter. In totality the feast culminated on a joyous note leaving us all parishioners in anticipation of the  next annual feast.
